International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition

2021 Competition

The International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition utilizes the Business Policy Game, an international simulation, designed to enable advanced business students to integrate and apply the theories of their business courses.  Students become strategic managers of simulated companies competing against other business students acting as managers of their own companies. The simulated environment incorporates the economies of two countries, and requires consideration of global and domestic strategy.  Student teams are organized into undergraduate and MBA “worlds,” with four to six teams in each “world” competing directly against each other. Trophies are awarded separately in each “world.”  The Competition extends over five simulated years, one calendar quarter at a time.  Two years of simulated company history are provided to the teams.  Students begin the simulated competition in Year 3.

The planned schedule for the 2021 Competition is as follows:

Registration Deadline: The deadline for registration is December 31, 2020

Payment of Registration Fees: All registration fees must be paid no later than January 23, 2021.

The Intensive Phase April 22-24th, 2021

The location for the 2021 ICBSC intensive phase is online. In the past, and in the anticipated future, we have held the intensive phase at a hotel in Southern California. Last year, due to the pandemic, we were forced to shift to an online intensive phase, the feedback we received was that while most of our participants would have loved a chance to visit Southern California, they were surprised at how well the competition worked and how much they were able to learn in this format.  Due to the combination of the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, and the budget challenges associated with this last year, we will again hold the intensive phase online. But, we are committed to  upholding the highest standards, and making sure the maximum possible value is realized by our student competitors.
